The MTA board is expected to approve a new bus route in the Bronx.

The Bx46 route would connect the Hunts Point Market to the number 6 subway line at Longwood Avenue and the 2 and 5 subway lines at Prospect Avenue.

"We've seen a large influx of new residents and population growth throughout that area, so we've gotten some requests to look at the possibility of adding new service there, and we've made the decision to move forward with adding this new bus route," said MTA spokesperson Kevin Ortiz.

The MTA says it would cost $1.4 million per year to run the new service.

If approved, the Bx46 would start rolling in April.
