Department of Transportation officials unveiled in Midtown on Monday a new set of parking signs they say are much simpler and less wordy than the old ones.

The new signs features the rule at the top, followed by the days and times.

City officials hope the signs will take all the guesswork out of parking.

"Having 250 characters, four signs and three different colors is not a way to bring clarity to our streets," said Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan.

"This is going to make sure people know where they can park, can do it legally and do it without getting a ticket," said City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

"It's much clearer. It's much more user-friendly and most importantly, nobody will feel like the city is trying to confuse them in order to issue them a ticket," said Manhattan Councilman Daniel Garodnick.

About 6,300 new signs have already been posted throughout Midtown for the initial rollout.
