The Port Authority said it's making some changes to PATH service over the next two weekends in order to speed up the return of service to Hoboken.

PATH trains will only run between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday and Saturday.

The Port Authority says repairs will go faster if crews can work without interruption.

Sandy caused an estimated $300 million in damage to the PATH system.

Floodgates designed after a 1992 Nor'easter were overwhelmed and tunnels under the Hudson were filled with more than 8 feet of water.

Officials say it will still take weeks to restore PATH service to Hoboken.

"It is our top priority to bring the PATH system back," said Port Authority Deputy Executive Director Bill Baroni. "We are doing extraordinary efforts to make that happen because we understand that our customers deserve a fully reopened PATH system and we are working around the clock to deliver that system."

The Port Authority's Board of Commissioners approved operating costs for the new year on Thursday.

But officials say they must still tally up the storm damage before they will come up with a capital budget.
