The Metropolitan Transportation Authority confirms it will not give refunds to unlimited ride MetroCard users for the days the system was shut down because of Sandy.

The agency says processing refunds for unlimited ride users would be a logistical nightmare.

The MTA has also nixed the idea of extending unlimited ride cards as it did after the 2005 transit strike.

Sandy forced the MTA to shut down the transit system the night of October 28.

Some bus service resumed Tuesday evening shortly after the storm and limited subway service was back on November 1.

Rides were free for two days after Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a transportation emergency.
