The Department Of Transportation will start shutting down all muni-meters on Sundays, to stop people from wasting their cash.

Though meter regulations are suspended on Sundays, many machines still accept money and issue receipts.

DOT officials say machines that were installed after last June do not have this issue, but others do.

City Councilman Peter Vallone says the DOT says it is looking into making all muni-meters turn off at any time when parking is free.
