Eight Charged In Stabbing Attack Of 6 Train Rider

Eight young women have been charged and are awaiting arraignment in connection with the attack and stabbing of a 63-year-old man on the subway.

It happened on board a downtown 6 train near the 23rd Street station early Sunday morning.

Police say the group of girls - ranging in age between 15 and 20 years old - jumped the man.

He was stabbed in the left shoulder.

The group was taken into custody at the station.

All are charged with gang assault, menacing, rioting, weapons possession and disorderly conduct.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he received seven stitches to his shoulder.
