The city successfully completed a full-scale emergency response drill Sunday in the Bronx.

The Department of Environmental Protection and the Fire Department conducted the drill, which took place near the northeast section of the Jerome Park Reservoir in Norwood.

The drill is meant to test the emergency response to a simulated release of chlorine at a DEP operated gatehouse.

"We conduct a drill like this once a year just to test our standard operating procedure in case there is a leak of chlorine, to make sure that the DEP employs and the emergency responders from the fire department follow the procedure," said DEP Acting Commissioner Steven Lawitts. "It tells us whether everything is working right and whether we have to update that procedure."

The drill included audible alarm testing, with FDNY personnel responding in hazmat suits.
