City Comptroller Bill Thompson hit the campaign trail Saturday with some tough words for the mayor.

Thompson campaigned in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx.

At an event in Washington Heights aimed at engaging the Latino community, Thompson bashed his rival Mayor Michael Bloomberg, accusing him of pushing money to Wall Street and ignoring communities in need.

"There's something wrong in this city, because people have been ignored. Our community has been ignored. All across the city of New York people continue to be ignored," said Thompson. "It is time that we had a mayor in City Hall who will stand up and fight for us. Who understands it isn't about the rich, it's about everyday New Yorkers. It isn't about the wealthy, it's about those who work each and every day to make this the greatest city in the world."

Thompson also stopped by an NAACP chapter in Parkchester and Brooklyn Borough Hall, where he was endorsed by a group of local politicians.

NY1 reached out to the mayor's campaign for comment, but heard no response as of Saturday evening.
