A $2 million settlement was reached Wednesday between the city and the family of a woman who collapsed and died at Kings County Hospital, after not being seen for 24 hours.
Esmin Green, 49, was ignored by employees and security guards even as she went into convulsions.
Sanford Rubenstein, the attorney for Green's family, says they want to see prosecution against those responsible and those who tried to cover up the incident.
"What the family wants is for anyone who committed a criminal act, which either caused the death of Esmin Green or was an attempt to cover up that death, that anyone who committed such an act, be held criminally accountable and they await justice," said Rubenstein.
The City Health and Hospitals Corporation says the settlement demonstrates an acceptance of responsibility for the events leading to Green's death.
The hospital announced major reforms in the aftermath of the incident, including better coordination with the mental health system.
