An upcoming construction project will actually mean more service for Brooklyn subway riders.

Beginning on July 5, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority will extend the G train five stops farther into Brooklyn.

It will make additional stops at Fourth Avenue-Ninth street, Seventh Avenue, 15th Street-Prospect Park, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Church Avenue.

The extension is due to the $260 million renovation of the Culver Viaduct, which carries G and F trains across the Gowanus Canal.

However, the Smith-Ninth Street station will be closed completely for about nine months in 2011.
