When he announced his resignation last year, the odds of former Governor Eliot Spitzer ever winning another race seemed slim -- and a horse named after Spitzer also has slim odds in the upcoming Preakness race.
"Luv Gov," one of 13 horses entered in Saturday's race, was named after the nickname given to Spitzer after he was forced to resign in the wake of a prostitution scandal.
The owner, Marylou Whitney, has another horse named "Ninth Client" - another reference to the former governor, who was identified as "Client Number Nine" of prostitute Ashley Dupre.
Whitney is a Saratoga Springs Republican who contributed to Rudy Giuliani's presidential bid.
Luv Gov is one of the longest shots in the field, with odds currently at 50-to-1.
