Proceedings continued Tuesday in the trial of a Staten Island woman charged in the shooting death of her fire marshal husband.

Janet Redmond-Mercereau told police last year that she was in her daughter's bedroom and did not hear the gunshots because she had on earplugs.

Redmond-Mercereau denies any involvement in his death and may soon testify in her defense.

Douglas Mercereau was shot three times by his own gun in his home in Oakwood in December of 2007.

His wife faces charges of second-degree murder along with counts of tampering with evidence and weapons possession.
