A New York-based cargo ship received a Navy escort, after it became the second ship to be attacked by pirates off the coast of Somalia.
The Liberty Sun was carrying humanitarian aid to Kenya when pirates fired rocket-propelled grenades and fired automatic weapons at the ship.
The vessel is owned by Liberty Maritime Corporation, which is based on Long Island.
The USS Bainbridge sailed to the rescue. That's the same ship that came to the aid of the Maersk Alabama.
The crew of the Maersk Alabama is on its way home to the United States today.
But the ship's Captain Richard Phillips is not flying home with them as originally scheduled, since he is aboard the USS Bainbridge.
Pirates took Phillips hostage last week.
He was freed after Navy SEALs killed three of the pirates in a daring rescue on Sunday.
