A new high-tech system is being installed in several spots in the city to identify traffic trouble spots.

There will be one at the Brooklyn Bridge as well as some other streets in Lower Manhattan.

The system is being run by the Lower Manhattan Construction Command Center, a government agency established to coordinate development in the area.

Officials say the system is designed to monitor congestion south of Canal Street so the agency knows where to send traffic agents.

They say the system will use E-ZPass transponders in vehicles to calculate travel times and routes.

But they caution the system cannot read license plates and will not be able to identify drivers.
