A humpback whale spotted in New York harbor has headed back to sea.
Coast Guard officials say they've shut down the safety zone created to keep boaters away from the 25 to 30-foot-long whale.
It was spotted Thursday morning in a shipping channel near the Verrazano Bridge.
The Coast Guard said it made its way toward Coney Island and then headed to the ocean.
It is believed to be the same whale that was spotted near the Rockaways on Wednesday.
