Some prospective students aren't laughing after a graduate program at NYU made a mistake on April Fools day.
The Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service mistakenly sent out acceptance emails to nearly 500 applicants on April 1st, but the students should have received rejection letters instead.
School officials caught the mistake and sent out follow-up emails apologizing for the mix-up about an hour later.
An NYU spokesman blames it on a clerical error and says they, "Sincerely regret any misunderstanding, false expectations, or disappointment this error may have caused."
