A kosher soup kitchen in Brooklyn is expanding to meet the needs of city residents during these tough economic times.

Masbia, which means "satiate" in Hebrew is opening two more locations in Brooklyn and one in Queens.

The soup kitchen's executive director says the economic crisis brings with it more hungry New Yorkers.

"We are here like the ambulance for hunger, so we are the emergency. People who find themselves with an empty kitchen, an empty pantry, an empty refrigerator, they think of us. Some people might have even been our donors even," said Masbia Executive Director Alexander Rapaport.

Masbia expects to open its Williamsburg location in June.

The four-year-old soup kitchen serves about 200 people a night.
