An autopsy released Monday found that longtime radio newsman George Weber died of multiple stab wounds.

The city medical examiner's office says the 47-year-old was stabbed in the head, neck, torso and extremities.

The veteran newsman was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment Sunday morning.

Police, who have declared Weber's death a homicide, say he was stabbed sometime Friday night. Sources say there was no sign of forced entry and that police are looking into the possibility that he was killed by someone he knew.

According to published reports, no weapon was found, but Weber's Carroll Gardens apartment had been ransacked. Sources say Weber's feet were tied and his hands may have been, as well.

Weber was part of the WABC's "Curtis and Kuby" morning show until it was cancelled in February 2008. Since then, he had freelanced for ABC News Radio.

His former colleagues say Weber was passionate about his job.

"George Weber was the best," said radio personality Curtis Sliwa. "Not like the rest, there's no 9-5 to George. He was at it round the clock and he would make it his duty to find out and connect the dots on stories that just didn't go down the right pipe as far as he was concerned, and so he was relentless. He would go the whole nine yards. "

Mayor Michael Bloomberg issued a statement saying he was shocked and saddened by Weber's death and that he will be deeply missed.
