Dozens of men dressed in drag struck a pose in Times Square for local charities Friday.
Luxuriously-dressed members of the Imperial Court of New York gathered to promote the 23rd annual Night of a Thousand Gowns fundraiser which is being held Saturday night.
This year the event benefits Sylvia's Place, an organization that helps homeless gay youth, and LIFEbeat, an organization dedicated to fighting AIDS.
"We always have great charity organizations beneficiaries that we [raise] a lot of money for," said Empress Annetique of the Imperial Court of New York.
"We try to be as creative as possible. We try to draw attention to ourselves - we do that with our clothes and also our jewelry and our attitudes," said Emperor Rob Hunter Dewoofs of the Imperial Court of New York. "And we try to have as much fun as we can to bring awareness to the different organizations that we're raising funds for."
Saturday's fundraiser features a charity ball and silent auction.
