A woman is in the hospital after being shot by an arrow in the Bronx.
Officials say 51-year-old Denise Delgado Brown was hit in the chest by an arrow while getting out of her car Saturday afternoon on Independence Avenue in Riverdale.
Friend Donna Hubbard was in the front passenger seat when that stray arrow fell from the sky.
"I just hope they catch the person," said Hubbard.
"She' a woman of God, so hope and everything is built in Jesus, so she believes in that but she's in a lot of pain right now and the main thing she keeps asking is why," said another friend Randy Holdip.
Police say the arrow was shot from a distance, and appears to be a random act.
"She said, 'why would someone shoot me with an arrow?'" recalled friend Olga Rivera. "She didn't understand it herself."
"It sounds like someone incredibly negligent or deranged shot an arrow not being mindful of where it might end up," said Councilman Oliver Koppel.
Brown was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.
No arrests have been made.
