A famous pizza parlor in Coney Island is promising to rebuild after a costly fire ripped through the store Saturday morning.

Monday morning, fire officials said the blaze at Totonno's Pizza on Saturday morning was accidentally sparked by coals in the oven.

The establishment opened in 1924 and is billed as the oldest continuously operated pizzeria in the nation run by the same family.

Despite the damage, friends and relatives of the owners say they plan to get the shop back up and running in six weeks.

Longtime customers say they'll be counting the days.

"It's a big loss. They're one of the places that everybody over here eats from. I have a glass shop here 25 years. We're here five or six days a week. That's where we eat. It's the best around," said one Coney Island resident.

"When you hear about it it hurts because it's been a tradition for years. I grew up going here and my kids, and probably their kids will grow up having that pizza. So it's a sad day in Coney Island," said another Coney Island resident.

Three firefighters suffered minor injuries fighting the fire.
