Some airlines in local airports canceled Monday flights on Sunday before the first snowflakes of an expected snowstorm fell.
At the American Airlines terminal in Queens's LaGuardia Airport, many arrivals were delayed and canceled Sunday afternoon.
"We're trying to get to New Orleans. We had a layover in Atlanta, but with the storm we can't go there. We're going to Dallas, we have to stay overnight," said a traveler. "What can we do? It's nature."
"We'll crash New York City and stay overnight in a hotel and try to catch a Broadway show and try to buy some fancy clothes," said another.
Most Sunday afternoon departures were still leaving on time.
