During his weekly radio address Sunday, Mayor Michael Bloomberg promoted the city's efforts to make tax filing season a little easier.

Bloomberg said taxpayers can get thousands of dollars back in the form of Earned Income Tax Credits.

More than 60 tax assistance sites have been set up around the city for free or low cost help in filing EITCs and other tax benefits.

The mayor says up to $500 of refund money can then be put in Save NYC -- a high-interest growing account.

"This year, we estimate that EITCs will put more than $2 billion that's right, billion dollars in the hands of working New Yorkers. And in this economy, that's money that will really make a difference meeting household expenses, while also giving neighborhood businesses throughout the city a much-needed shot in the arm," said Bloomberg.
