One of the men who climbed up the side of the New York Times Building this summer, to publicize the fight against malaria, has received a conditional discharge and a $200 fine.
Renaldo Clarke of Brooklyn was also sentenced to a day of community service, but he has already performed two days with the Audubon Society.
Clarke says he scaled the wall in June to publicize the fight against malaria. In December, he pled guilty to misdemeanor reckless endangerment in exchange for the sentence.
He apologized for his actions and said he will find a different way to promote his cause from now on.
"I won't climb anything in the city again. The bug might be there, but I have enough will power not to climb in New York City," said Clarke.
Instead, he said he may consider a walk to generate funds and awareness.
Clarke made his climb just hours after a Frenchman also scaled the building to promote awareness of global warming.
Another man, David Malone, tried to climb the building in July, but only made it to the 11th floor. He is due in court later today.
The Times has since made changes to the building to deter any future climbers.
