Officials Repair Damaged Standpipe At Deutsche Bank Building

A stop-work order has been lifted at the former Deutsche Bank building after a damaged standpipe forced the evacuation of demolition workers yesterday.
The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation says workers were removing drywall in the condemned building when a standpipe, which feeds water to fire hoses, was accidentally cut around 8:30 yesterday morning.
The Fire Department says the pipe located on the second-floor ceiling was fixed by 11 last night.
According to the LMDC, a stop-work order was lifted today following tests.
This is the same problem that occurred during the August 2007 fire which took the lives of firefighters Robert Beddia and Joseph Graffagnino.
A subcontractor and three construction officials face multiple charges, including manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
