Pilot Chesley Sullenberger says the moments after both engines of U.S. Airways Flight 1549 lost power on January 15th were the worst of his life.
In a pre-taped interview with CBS's Katie Couric airing Sunday on "60 Minutes," Sullenberger discussed his first reaction when birds flew into the plane's engines.
"It was the worst, sickening, pit-of-your-stomach, falling-through-the-floor feeling I've ever felt in my life," he said. "I knew immediately it was very bad. My initial reaction was one of disbelief."
Audio recordings released yesterday reveal a calm and collected Sullenberger as he landed the airbus on the Hudson River.
Sullenberger and his crew will be guests of Mayor Michael Bloomberg on MOnday, as they are presented with keys to the city. NY1 will carry the ceremony l ive at 10:30 a.m.
