A barge carrying more than five million gallons of home heating oil is taking on water near an island off the Bronx.
The barge was being pushed to Boston yesterday when it hit something near Execution Rocks, on the north shore of Long Island.
It was towed to anchor off Hart Island.
While the barge is sinking, the Coast Guard says it is not discharging any oil.
An oil spill removal company has been called in to transfer the oil to other vessels.
