A Sikh man remains hospitalized after being stabbed in Queens last weekend in what he says was a bias attack.
Jassmir Singh is at Elmhurst Hospital after he was beaten and stabbed in the eye in Jackson Heights early Sunday morning.
He says he ran to a store for help, but his three attackers followed him and dragged him out of the store. Singh claims his attackers singled him out because of his appearance.
"They started talking about my hair, my beard, why I had it," he said. "One of them said they were going to cut it."
"It was a total hate crime. They don't like people with a different appearance," said the victim's father, Diwan Singh. "We are Sikh people, and I don't know why they were taunting him and not leaving him alone."
Police arrested two of the three attackers.
Rahman Shabad, 16, and Gevin Burgos, 21, have been charged with robbery and assault. They are still looking for the third suspect.
Police are looking into whether they will face hate crime charges.
