Two people were injured Tuesday when a four-alarm fire spread through a Brooklyn building.
Flames broke out at 1001 Foster Avenue in Parkville at around 9 a.m.
Two civilians were taken to Maimonides Medical Center. The extent of their injuries is not known, but fire officials say they are in stable condition.
It took about 170 firefighters an hour to bring the blaze under control.
"We had good water supply, able to make good headway on the fire," said FDNY Deputy Chief Charles Clarke. "The units did a good job containing it to the two buildings. A lot of times with these buildings, it can extend from building to building and continue to move. We were able to prevent that and keep it to the two buildings we found when we originally got here."
The Red Cross provided temporary housing for two families at local hotels.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
