A new poll released Thursday by Quinnipiac University shows many New Yorkers are opposed to Governor Paterson's tax on non-diet soft drinks by a 2-to-1 margin.
The plan calls for a tax on non-diet soft drinks.
Nearly three quarters of regular soda drinkers are against it, while even those who prefer diet drinks are opposed to the tax by 62 percent to 35 percent.
Despite opposing the tax proposal, New Yorkers still approve of the job Governor Paterson is doing by more than a 2-to-1 margin.
Meanwhile, voters disapprove of the job being done by the state legislature by a similar margin.
Quinnipiac surveyed more than 1,600 voters statewide.
It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.4 percentage points.
