More testimony was heard Thursday in the trial of three people charged in connection with the deaths of two city firefighters.

Lieutenants Curtis Meyran and John Bellew died after jumping from a fourth floor apartment during a January 2005 blaze in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx.

Prosecutors said they were forced to jump after they were trapped by illegal subdivisions the tenants erected in the apartment.

A firefighter who was on the scene told the court about the extremely hot and dangerous conditions in the building.

The witness said the fire was so intense he couldn't get more than five feet into the building when he doubled back to look for his fellow firefighters.

Building residents Caridad Coste and Rafael Castillo and building owner Caesar Rios are accused of manslaughter in addition to a slew of other charges.
