State investigators were figuring out Saturday the case of a disabled man left in a bus on a freezing cold night.
The Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities said its investigation was covering the bus company, Outstanding Transport, and the school attended by 22-year-old Edwin Rivera.
Bus matron Linda Hockaday was arrested and on Friday charged with reckless endangerment. She was also fired by the bus company.
Police say she left Rivera, who suffers from cerebral palsy, for nearly 20 hours on a bus in Brooklyn on New Year's Eve.
Rivera was recovering from hypothermia at Brookdale University Medical Center on Saturday.
Investigators say Hockaday told them she knew Rivera had not gotten off the bus, but left him there because she was apparently in a rush to get to a church function and did not want to travel back to his East Harlem home.
The bus company's owner, Charles Curcio, said he was shocked by what happened.
"It's a disgrace. I have children of my own," said Curcio. "Like I said before, we're not a trucking company, we transport the most precious cargo in the world."
Hockaday was being held on $5,000 bond Saturday. If convicted, she faces up to seven years in prison.
