It's not that night yet, but organizers of the massive party in times square want everything to go smooth and that includes testing confetti for its "air worthiness".

"Just to make sure the confetti has been cut right, that it's not going to fall down in clumps, and that it flutters down on to the ground in a festive fashion, since New Years Eve is all about a festive happy time," said Tim Tompkins, Times Square Alliance.

Thousands of pounds of confetti will be thrown from various buildings in Times Square at midnight. Some folks in Times Square got a sneak peak on Monday as confetti rained down from the fourth floor of 1600 Broadway.

"It's colorful, and it's like bright, and it like flies in the air," said one onlooker.

Some of the confetti will be very personal. For the second year, visitors to Times Square have been writing their wishes for the new year on the small pieces of paper. Currently, they can be seen pinned to the wall at the Times Square information center where they will eventually become a part of the celebration.

"We'll take all of these wishes down, as well as ones people have done online at TimesSquare.org, and we'll mix them with the two tons of confetti that drop at midnight, so not only will confetti fall, but all these people's wishes from around the world will fall from the sky," said Lori Raimondo, Times Square Alliance.

This year, the wishes range from people sending luck to the new president, asking for a job after being laid off, hoping to have a child and even a few wedding proposals.

"It really is a microcosm of all of our wishes, we are all hoping it will be a healthy happy new year, and that's what these wishes are all about," said Jeffrey Strauss, Countdown Entertainment.

If you're heading to the big bash, you might just catch someone's wish while you think about your own for the new year.
