Dozens of lip locking couples gathered in Times Square Friday to practice their New Year's Eve kiss. A kissing expert was also on hand to offer advice.
"I think it's more that people are a little bit too ambitious right off the back and women, in particular, prefer when a guy takes his time to build up slowly to the kiss as opposed to the sort of more powerful first blush of the kiss," said Kissing Expert Andrea Demirjian. "So I always tell guys to let the kiss build slowly, that crescendo really makes it that much more juicy and fun and pleasurable."
Many of the couples will be participating in a group kiss in Times Square on New Year's Eve so they came out for a rehearsal.
"We got some kissing tips so I'm gonna review them, and just make sure that I'm bringing my A-game and I guess we'll see. He'll be the judge really," said Angela Sytko, a participant.
Some of the people involved are couples of convenience, pairing up to get in on the big kiss at midnight.
One of the key pieces of advice was keeping lips moist, but the kissing expert also suggests abstaining from kissing until midnight to make it extra sweet.
Another important kissing tip -- whether its midnight or anytime, breath mints are a must.
