Eight people were rescued from a two-alarm fire in Brooklyn Thursday.
Five people, including two firefighters, suffered minor injuries at 1057 Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights.
The fire started around 10:30 a.m. and took about an hour to put out. It started on the first floor and spread to the roof.
"We were very lucky. This was a miracle that nobody got hurt with the amount of fire that was evident upon arrival," said Fire Deputy Chief Joe Wozinca.
"I heard the Christmas ornament fall off of my door, so when I went to see who was in my hallway, when I went to open the door, I couldn't open it, the fire was right there," said a resident.
As of Thursday evening, the cause of the fire was unknown but officials labeled it suspicious.
