As Caroline Kennedy moved forward with her campaign to replace Senator Hillary Clinton Friday, an influential supporter may have done more harm than good by lobbying on her behalf.

The daughter of slain President John F. Kennedy has a strong ally in Deputy Mayor Kevin Sheekey, a top political aide to Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

With the mayor's approval, Sheekey phoned leaders to support Caroline Kennedy.

But a source told NY1 that Governor David Paterson, who picks Clinton's successor, is unhappy with Sheekey's arm-twisting.

A spokesman for Paterson declined to directly address the matter, as did Sheekey.

Meanwhile, Kennedy met with teachers' union head Randi Weingarten and has now been endorsed by Brooklyn Democratic leader Vito Lopez.
