A Brooklyn woman who lost her hands and feet due to what she claims is medical negligence is trying to live a normal life.
Tabitha Mullings is being treated at NYU/Rusk Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine, where she is learning to walk with the prosthetics that will replace her missing feet.
Mullings, who is now legally blind, lost her hands and feet after going into septic shock due to a severe infection.
Mullings said she's determined to get her life back.
"It's a big thing when you finally get to stand up. It's like getting a new car. That feeling that you got it and now you can use it. It's great," said Mullings.
In September, Mullings said she went to Brooklyn Hospital Center complaining of pain. She said doctors told her she had kidney stones and sent her home.
Mullings also claims EMS didn't take her back to the hospital when she called them and is currently suing the hospital and the city.
