New York Giants' linebacker Antonio Pierce, who was with teammate Plaxico Burress the night Burress shot himself, reportedly met with police on Friday.
According to reports, Pierce met with investigators at an undisclosed location in Manhattan. His attorney, however, has not confirmed that.
Pierce and the doctor who treated Burress that night were scheduled to meet with the NYPD Friday to discuss their roles in the case.
Pierce did attend practice at Giants Stadium Friday morning as the team prepared to meet Philadelphia Sunday afternoon.
Investigators want to know why neither Pierce nor Dr. Josyann Abisaab reported the shooting. Police also said Pierce took Burress' gun back to New Jersey after the incident.
Meanwhile, Dr. Abisaab has been suspended by New York Presbyterian. It's unclear if she will face criminal charges.
"There's a specific obligation to report gunshots, it's 265.25 of the penal law, it's a misdemeanor, so they're required to do it," said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. "But as far as other folks, we think it's an obligation on all of us to report that sort of thing as quickly as possible."
Burress faces weapons possession charges and is free on $100,000 bail.
The Giants suspended him for the rest of the season, but according to reports, the NFL players association is planning to file a grievance over the move.
