Fancy footwear is no longer an option for inmates in city jails.
According to the Daily News, beginning today, all inmates being held in city jails will be banned from wearing their own shoes or sneakers.
Instead, they are being issued $2-a-pair canvas shoes.
The move is designed to reduce violence among prisoners who have been known to fight over high-priced sneakers.
