Two women brought together by war held a tearful reunion in Queens's John F. Kennedy International Airport Wednesday.
During World War II in Poland, the Catholic family of Wiktoria Sozanska risked their lives to save the Jewish family of Shoshanna Rozia Rothshild.
Four of Rothshild’s family hid in an underground bunker at Sozanska's home in Poland for two years.
Now, Rothshild traveled from Israel and Sozanska came from Poland to reunite after 63 years and spend a week together in New York City.
"It was a very difficult time. A lot of the time we were scared about being discovered because if we had been discovered we all would have been shot," said Rothshild.
The reunion was made possible through the efforts of the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous.
