The lights on Broadway dimmed at 8 p.m. Thursday night in honor of theater critic Clive Barnes, who passed away Wednesday.

Barnes, 81, spent his life reviewing dance, theater, and opera for the New York Times and, more recently, the New York Post.

The London-native passed away Wednesday after a battle with liver cancer.

His last column for the Post ran just a few weeks ago.

Barnes also wrote several books on theater and the performing arts.
