Jury selection began Monday in the murder trial of actor Lillo Brancato Jr.
Brancato, 32, appeared in the 1993 movie "A Bronx Tale" and was was also known for a recurring role on the TV series "The Sopranos."
The actor faces second-degree murder charges in connection with the shooting of off-duty police officer Daniel Enchautegui in 2005.
Brancato’s codefendant, Steven Armento, was convicted last month and sentenced to life in prison.
Enchautegui, a three-year veteran of the force, was shot after he interrupted an attempted burglary at his neighbor's home in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx. He managed to shoot and wound both Armento and Brancato.
Brancato's attorney says his client was unarmed and did not know anyone had a gun.
