Four city policemen have been stripped of their guns and badges after being accused of assaulting a man in a Brooklyn subway station last month.
A police spokesman said Wednesday that the officers have been placed on desk duty while a special grand jury investigates.
Michael Mineo, 24, claims the officers beat and sodomized him with a police radio antenna on October 15 in the Prospect Park subway station.
The NYPD strongly denies the claims.
The Police Department's Internal Affairs Bureau is also investigating but it must wait until the grand jury is finished before interviewing the officers.
Mineo's attorney says they're pleased by the officers' reassignment, but that it should have occurred sooner.
