A lawyer for the Brooklyn mother accused of beating her 11-year-old daughter to death reportedly said the girl fell while hanging a shower curtain.

Prosecutors said in court Tuesday that Florencia Vasquez admitted to beating her daughter Alejandra and that she failed to get medical help for the girl.

However, her lawyer reportedly maintains that the girl fell in a bathtub and later complained of dizziness. He said Vasquez called a doctor on Saturday who told her to give her daughter an aspirin and call back if the girl did not feel better.

Alejandra Vasquez was found dead on Sunday. The medical examiner says she died of child abuse syndrome and had injuries to her head, body, arms and legs.

Her mother was being held Wednesday without bail on second-degree murder, manslaughter, and criminally negligent homicide charges.

As she walked past reporters Monday night, she denied killing the girl.

Her live-in boyfriend, Andres Pavon-Balderas has been charged with manslaughter and criminally-negligent homicide.
