The New York Times' Manhattan headquarters were briefly evacuated Wednesday after a non-lethal white powder was found in an envelope.
A posting on the paper's website said it was addressed to editorial page editor Andrew Rosenthal, and opened by his executive secretary on the 13th floor.
She and two other Times employees, including a mailroom worker, had to bag their clothing and take showers as a precaution.
A spokesperson for the Times said no one was taken to the hospital.
The lobby of the building remained closed for much of the day, forcing employees to find alternate exits.
