A Brooklyn nurse is suing Lutheran Medical Center in Sunset Park for $6 million, saying she has been a victim of sexual harassment.
At press conference held Tuesday, Tamiqua Hunt-Frelow claimed male co-workers and supervisors began grabbing and slapping her buttocks in 2006.
Hunt-Frelow said when she complained about the treatment, her bosses told her to wear looser clothing and long lab coats.
"I feel ashamed, I feel hurt, and honestly, to give you a vivid picture, I feel like an abused child locked away in a closet where nobody heard me,” said Hunt-Frelow. “I didn't have a voice in this matter and I decided to take a stand and come forward, get a lawyer and take it to the next step because I, and nobody should be treated like that, its very unfair."
Lutheran Medical Center issued a statement saying, "We take allegations of this kind extremely seriously. Lutheran Medical Center has zero tolerance toward any type of discrimination, harassment or other negative behavior that contributes to an unpleasant work environment."
