Police in Brooklyn were investigating Wednesday night the a case of a man who fell from an awning during a confrontation with officers and later died Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities said it happened on Tompkins Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
The incident was caught on amateur video.
Witnesses say the man was naked and standing on the awning, waving a long fluorescent bulb at officers when he was tased twice.
Sources say he fell about 10 feet and was taken to Kings County Hospital where he died.
Members of the community say police overreacted.
"We're asking for a full investigation,” said community activist Sharonnie Perry. “We're asking for a special prosecutor to be assigned to this case so that there can be a thorough investigation on why the cops reacted in the manner that they did and that a young man, maybe 36, 37-year-old’s life was taken away like that."
Police did not comment on the incident Wednesday night.
