New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress has been suspended without pay.
The team announced today that he will not be allowed to participate in any team activities from now until after the Giants next game on October 5th against the Seattle Seahawks.
FoxSports.com is reporting that Burress failed to show up for work on Monday, and did not respond to several calls by the team to explain his unexcused absences.
The team would only say that he violated team rules.
Burress is in his fourth season with the Giants. He has been their leading receiver every year since signing with the Giants and caught the game-winning pass in the Super Bowl.
He signed a two-year extension just before this season started.
