Governor David Paterson was among the dignitaries in the 39th African American Day Parade in Harlem Sunday.
The parade began at 1 p.m. at 111th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard and marched to 142nd Street.
The festivities included marching bands and other organizations from all over the country.
The parade had several grand marshals including Paterson, former Mayor David Dinkins, Congressman Charles Rangel and the Reverend Al Sharpton.
Organizers say nearly a million people came out last year.
