Serbian prosecutors questioned a diplomat Wednesday who was arrested on suspicion that he helped a Binghamton University student flee the United States to escape assault charges.
Igor Milosevic, Serbia's former Deputy Consul in New York, was arrested Tuesday for questioning.
He is suspected of providing an emergency passport to Miladin Kovacevic.
The former basketball player posted bail and fled to Serbia in June, a month after allegedly beating a fellow student, Bryan Steinhauer of Brooklyn, at a bar in Binghamton.
The 22-year-old remains in a coma. Serbia has tried to convince Kovacevic to return to the U.S. to face trial, but he has refused.
